Maintenance & AMC Plans

Cold stores must run continuously, and unplanned downtime can ruin product and disrupt supply chains. Eskimo AMC plans are structured to match different risk profiles, from low-cost reactive support to high-uptime predictive monitoring. This page contains the full maintenance model, full plan details, and a clear comparison so you can choose confidently.

Maintenance Levels

Maintenance is not only repairs, it's how you control risk, energy, and disruption. Eskimo offers three maintenance levels. Reactive restores operation after failures. Preventive reduces failures through planned inspections and replacements. Predictive adds remote logging and analytics to detect trends early and intervene before problems become visible downtime.

Reactive Maintenance

Reactive maintenance is best when occasional downtime is acceptable and budgets are tight. You call when something fails or performance drifts. We diagnose the issue, replace failed parts, fix leaks, and restore operation. The value is expertise and speed, especially when your internal team needs specialist refrigeration backup and structured reporting.

Preventive Maintenance

Preventive maintenance is planned intervention to reduce breakdowns and stabilize performance. We visit on a schedule to inspect, clean, adjust, and replace agreed wear components. Preventive maintenance reduces nuisance alarms, improves temperature stability, and lowers energy waste caused by dirty coils, incorrect defrost behavior, and poorly adjusted controls.

Predictive Maintenance

Predictive maintenance builds on preventive work with remote monitoring and data-driven intervention. We log temperatures, alarms, run-times, and other signals, then use analytics to spot behavior changes early. This supports planned interventions during low-impact windows and reduces surprise outages. Predictive is ideal when downtime is unacceptable or product risk is high.

Why Maintenance Also Reduces Cost

Maintenance is not just insurance. Cleaner coils, tuned controls, and correct defrost patterns directly reduce energy consumption. Early repairs are usually cheaper than repeated emergency visits and collateral damage. Fewer breakdowns also mean fewer disruptions, less overtime, less rescheduling, and less stress around product checks and operational uncertainty.

Assurance Inclusions

To support reliable uptime, Eskimo includes a set of Assurance Inclusions within AMC plans, and additional items can be added based on your chosen tier. These inclusions speed up repairs, reduce approval delays, improve transparency, and strengthen audit readiness. They also reduce "grey areas" between refrigeration, doors, docks, and facility operations.

Examples include Spare Parts Cover, Component Repairs Cover, Weekly Checkups, 24/7 rapid response with a defined one-hour commitment, free call-outs in eligible plans, structured maintenance reports with portal access, formal operational audits (annual or quarterly by plan), priority access to in-stock spare parts, and optional on-site spare parts stock for critical facilities.

AMC Plans

Eskimo bundles maintenance levels and Assurance Inclusions into four clear AMC plans. All plans include weekly checkups, priority access to spare parts, and 24/7 emergency response with a one-hour commitment. The difference is scope, preventive depth, audits, parts coverage, and whether predictive monitoring is included.

Plan 1: Reactive Lite — Core Refrigeration Only
Reactive Lite covers reactive maintenance for the refrigeration cycle: compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion devices, and primary controls.

It suits smaller plants or sites that handle doors, docks, and general facility items internally. This plan keeps costs low by excluding preventive operations and free call-outs, while still providing structured checkups and specialist emergency support.

  • Core refrigeration coverage
  • Weekly checkups
  • 24/7 emergency response (one-hour commitment)
  • Reports and portal access
  • Priority access to in-stock standardized parts (where compatible)
Plan 2: Reactive Plus — Whole Cold-Chain Reactive Care
Reactive Plus extends reactive coverage to the whole cold-chain system, including doors, door heaters, docks, loading areas, and lighting.

It reduces "grey areas" by giving you one responsible partner for faults that cross boundaries. You get broader coverage, free call-outs during working hours, and maintenance reporting, plus the ability to add Spare Parts Cover or component repairs if needed.

  • Everything in Reactive Lite
  • Doors, heaters, docks, loading areas, lighting
  • Working-hours free call-outs
  • 20% spare parts discount (eligible repairs)
  • Reports, portal access, automatic emails
Plan 3: Preventive Plus — Scheduled Care for Plant and Peripherals
Preventive Plus is built around scheduled preventive operations with full system scope.

We inspect, clean, adjust, and test according to planned windows. This plan includes free call-outs during and outside working hours, annual audits, Spare Parts Cover, and component repair coverage. It's designed for sites that want fewer breakdowns, stable temperatures, predictable maintenance windows, and stronger compliance readiness.

  • Preventive maintenance operations
  • Free call-outs (working + off-duty)
  • Spare Parts Cover + component repairs cover
  • Annual operational audit
  • Full scope including peripherals
Plan 4: Predictive Plus — High-Uptime, Data-Driven Maintenance
Predictive Plus combines preventive maintenance with remote data logging and AI-assisted analytics.

We monitor temperatures, alarms, run-times, and related signals to detect early changes and intervene before they become downtime. This plan includes quarterly audits, enhanced parts coverage, and optional on-site spare parts stock. It's ideal for mission-critical facilities where downtime is unacceptable.

  • Everything in Preventive Plus
  • Remote logging + analytics for early warning
  • Quarterly operational audits
  • Optional on-site spare parts stock
  • Highest uptime focus

Add-ons

Add-ons let you expand protection without jumping tiers. They are useful when you want one specific benefit, like parts cover or monitoring, while keeping the rest of the plan lean. During AMC discussion, we help you select add-ons that match your risk profile, operational priorities, and budget, then define clear scope and rules.

Common add-ons include Remote Monitoring & Alarm Escalation, Spare Parts Cover, Component Repairs Cover, On-Site Spare Parts Stock, extended call-out coverage during and outside working hours, and operator training refreshers. Add-ons are especially effective when you're transitioning from reactive to preventive behavior or when a site has a known weak point.

How We Work With Your Team

Collaboration Models

Many clients have internal technicians or existing contractors. Eskimo can complement rather than replace them. Some clients keep their team as first responder with Eskimo as technical backup. Others share responsibilities: daily checks internal, specialized refrigeration Eskimo. In full-service models, Eskimo leads maintenance while keeping your team informed through reports and agreed escalation paths.

Daily Operations Do's & Don'ts

Good daily practices protect performance. Keep doors closed and use curtains and rapid doors as intended. Report unusual noises, smells, or repeated alarms early. Keep coils unobstructed and follow SOPs for defrost and cleaning. Avoid parameter changes and safety overrides without coordination, and never chip ice with tools that damage panels, drains, or coils.

Maintenance Implementation Journey

What Happens After Signing

We start with a structured kick-off and baseline audit to capture condition, parameters, constraints, and known issues. Then we confirm scope mapping: what equipment and peripherals are covered, and which inclusions and add-ons apply. If stabilization is needed, we agree corrective actions and phase them by risk and budget.

Ongoing Rhythm

Weekly checkups follow site-specific checklists and flag emerging issues early. Breakdowns are handled by your plan's rules and response commitments. Preventive plans include deeper scheduled operations at agreed intervals. Predictive plans use remote trends to guide timing and focus. Reports are stored on the portal, and higher-tier plans include audits and periodic reviews.

AMC FAQs

How do I choose between reactive, preventive, and predictive?

Reactive suits sites that accept occasional downtime and want expert support on call. Preventive suits operations where downtime is painful and stability matters. Predictive suits high-value or mission-critical facilities that want early warning, planned interventions, and maximum uptime. We can walk the site and recommend the level that matches your reality.

Can we start lower and upgrade later?

Yes. Many clients begin with reactive coverage to build history and stabilize known issues, then upgrade to preventive or predictive as benefits become clear and budgets allow. When upgrading, we review scope and baseline condition so the new plan reflects what is covered and what needs attention.

What's the difference between weekly checkups and preventive visits?

Weekly checkups are short and frequent: visual checks, key readings, alarm review, and early flagging. Preventive visits are deeper and longer: opening panels, coil hygiene work, safety testing, detailed settings checks, and replacing agreed wear parts. Both matter; preventive reduces failures, and checkups reduce surprises between visits.
